Knight Frank, in conjunction with award winning developer, London Square, has unveiled a new urban village in the heart of London SE1, one of the capital’s most fashionable and creative districts. London Square Bermondsey’s unique homes are set to exhibit at on 18th and 19th February at Four Seasons Hotel, Singapore.
Shaping up to become SE1’s most coveted new destination, London Square Bermondsey reflects the area’s unique blend of old and new. This new community will transform a former industrial site, once home to food producers Crosse & Blackwell, to a mix of homes, workspaces, contemporary art studios and gallery spaces. Encircled by a collection of heritage and contemporary buildings, the development will include garden squares, attractive landscaping and walkways connecting to the surrounding streets. Bermondsey is famous for its fascinating combination of culture and commerce, yet close to the financial district in the City and the West End of London.
The Crosse is a stunning new building designed by renowned architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, the first phase to be unveiled at London Square Bermondsey. It features 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments and maisonettes with highly specified interiors, open-plan living areas and floor-to-ceiling glazing for maximised lighting and views, with all units inclusive of a private balcony, winter garden or terrace. On the sixth floor, a private terrace and generous landscaped courtyard provides stylish outside communal space and a spectacular view of the city’s skyline, encompassing famous landmarks from the London Eye to Canary Wharf. Further amenities and conveniences include a concierge service, flexible workspaces and a residents’ gym, designed to make life run more smoothly for busy residents on the go. As part of a Secure by Design initiative, video entry and a CCTV system are provided.
The development is also a showcase scheme in a major regeneration plan for the area, bringing thousands of new homes, schools, jobs, parks, public areas and two new tube stations for the Bakerloo Line extension.
Matt Goldsworthy, London International Project Sales, Knight Frank, comments, “London Square Bermondsey lies within a fashionable and dynamic part of London, superbly located for easy access into the City of London and the West End.
“The recent uplift in the amenity, commercial and cultural offerings in the borough serves to underpin values, leading to prices in SE1 outperforming many parts of Prime Central London. From Q3 2011 to Q3 2016 house prices in SE1 increased by 66% and with the vast regeneration plans for Bermondsey, this trend is set to continue.”
Linda Chern, Director, International Project Marketing, Knight Frank Singapore, adds, “Bermondsey has become one of London’s most stylish residential areas, with former industrial buildings on Bermondsey Street artfully restored and transformed into fashionable bars, restaurants, independent shops and the iconic White Cube art gallery. We foresee fresh interest in the area following the planned injection of further revitalization works to the vicinity, and is a worthwhile investment to watch out for.”
Its great connectivity also places the development in close proximity to the city’s global financial district and the West End, with its world-class museums, galleries, theatres, picturesque London parks and squares, Michelin-starred restaurants, designer boutiques and international retail brands. Additionally, Borough Market, London’s famous food and drink market noted for its British and international produce, is a short walk away.
On the education front, students from all over the world flock to the capital for its world-ranking universities. King’s College, City University, University College London, Imperial College, the London School of Economics, the School of Oriental and African Studies and the University of Westminster are within easy reach of London Square Bermondsey. Transport links are excellent, with underground stations at Bermondsey and London Bridge offering 24-hour tube services, good bus services and specially designed cycle routes running close by. London City Airport is just over 20 minutes away, with good road and transport links to Gatwick and Heathrow airports.
Rebecca Littler, Sales and Marketing Director, London Square, says: “Bermondsey is now one of the most fashionable districts in London, with a great creative vibe, and London Square will build on this to redefine this as a new destination in SE1. We expect there to be a high demand from buyers who want to be at the heart of this buzzing, vibrant district. We have an impressive track record in the conversion and restoration of historic buildings and bringing new life to forgotten areas. We are looking forward to creating a new chapter for the entire site, with new homes, shops, an art gallery, business spaces and new jobs.”
