In Australia, the bar has been raised since the pandemic when it comes to workspaces. Office design is increasingly driven by the aim of increasing employee satisfaction; depending on where one works, they could be enjoying the likes of a mini gym, a barista counter, colourful collaboration areas and pods for quiet meetings.

Welcome to the era of earning your employees' commutes. According to a survey of nearly 1200 companies conducted by the Australian HR Institute last  July, only 4 per cent required employees to work in the office full-time and 7 per cent of organisations allowed employees to work from home continuously. More than half of the organisations revealed they were offering incentives to lure staff back to the office, such as social events and free coffee or meals.
